I am a researcher at the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies (NKVTS) with a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Oslo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My doctoral dissertation, “Reason and Emotion – Muslims’ Arguments for Women’s Rights in Norwegian Media from 2000 to 2012,”<\/em> examined issues related to gender, ethnicity, the voices of those exposed to violence, religion, and public debate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n My research focuses on gender, sexuality, power, and violence, with a particular emphasis on youth and their understanding of sexual boundaries. I have experience with both qualitative methods and survey data, with a primary focus on qualitative methods, and I lead interdisciplinary research projects, including “Veahka – Violence and Abuse in Reindeer-Herding Sami Communities<\/a>“<\/em> (2024–ongoing) and “Sexual Violence and Control Across Minority and Majority Communities<\/a>“<\/em> (2024–ongoing). <\/p>\n\n\n\n Previously, I have worked on topics such as sexual harassment, intimate partner violence, and digital abuse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Throughout my career, I have taught, supervised, and contributed to the development of violence research and gender studies as academic fields, including roles as an editor and course coordinator at the University of Oslo.
