Hafstad has a clinical degree in Psychology (cand. psychol.) from the University of Bergen, and a PhD in Psychology (2011) from the University of Oslo. She has held a post doc position at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, and has also worked as a clinical psychologist at Norwegian mental health services.<\/span><\/p>\n
Hafstad is a leading expert on child and adolescent trauma, with extensive experience with project management, supervision and teaching. Her methodological competence spans both quantitative and qualitative methods. She has developed and coordinated several research projects and large-scale epidemiological studies, including the “UEVO-study”, a longitudinal nationally representative study of child maltreatment in 12-15 year-olds in Norway.<\/span><\/p>\n
Hafstad has published widely in the field of violence and traumatic stress studies, child abuse, and resilience, with an h-index of 19 and more than 50 articles in top-tier journals, reports and book chapters. She is widely consulted as advisor for governmental agencies, and has delivered several official reports, and communicated widely in mass media. She was a member of the “BarnUnge 21”strategy task force appointed by the Norwegian Ministry of Children and Families, 2019-2021.<\/span><\/p>\n
Hafstad is Chair of the Nordic association for the prevention of child abuse and neglect (NFBO\/NASPCAN) since 2021. She has served as member of NAPSCAN’s scientific committee and co-organized its biannual conferences since 2017. <\/span><\/p>\n
