Family violence coordinators in the police force

Grøvdal, Y. (2004). Familievoldskoordinatorene i politiet [Family violence coordinators in the police force ] Norwegian only. (Notat NKVTS notat 2004).

Family violence coordinators have been officially part of the working police force since July 1st of 2002. A year later, in 2003, Yngvil Grøvdal at the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies (NKVTS)  conducted a small interview study by telephone. The aim was to learn about how the coordinators regarded their work situation at that time. The telephone interviews with all of the family violence coordinators (in some cases their substitutes) took place during the time period May to August of 2003. Some of the coordinators were contacted several times, in order to fill out the picture from the first interview.

It is the family violence coordinators’ own opinions that make up the material of this small study   and this entails some obvious limitations. A thorough evaluation of this arrangement should preferably include other participants as well, but that was not the aim here.
