Bio: etter å ha fullført min bachelor på UC Berkeley i samfunnsøkonomi, studerte jeg medisin på Yale University i USA. Jeg har senere tatt en mastergrad i epidemiologi ved London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) i England. Før jeg ble forsker ved NKVTS, jobbet jeg som barne- og ungdomspsykiater ved Oslo Universitetssykehus, Ullevaal. Jeg har vært ansatt på NKVTS siden 2011, og jeg er i tillegg ansatt som statistiker ved Röda Korsets Högskola i Stockholm, Sverige.
Akademiske interesser: helse/psykisk helse hos flyktninger (sykdomsbyrde og risiko- og beskyttende faktorer); helse og integrering hos flyktninger; global (mental) helse; psykotraumatologi; PTSD; epidemiologi/epidemiologiske metoder (studiedesign, metode, statistikk, pre-registrering/hypotese-testende vs. hypotese-genererende forskning).
Aktiviteter:
– forsker i REFUGE-prosjektet som omhandler (mental) helse og integrering i voksne flyktninger fra Syria som ankom Norge mellom 2015 og 2017
– først studien: “Should we talk about mental health? Feasibility of assessment of mental health and treatment needs in newly arrived refugees from the war in Ukraine – a pilot study”
– forsker/statistikker i forskningsprosjektet “Resiliency, Mental Health and Social Participation among Refugees (RMSR)”, ved Röda Korsets Högskola i Stockholm, Sverige. Prosjektet omhandler mental helse, resiliens og sosial deltakelse og inkludering i nyankomne, voksne flyktninger fra Syria.
